Report prepared by Mr William Sirikwa
Saturday 25th January 2025 happens to be one of the most memorable days for our table tennis team as they set about for a thrilling friendly against Makini School with the latter being the host.
DEPARTURE AND ARRIVAL AT THE VENUE:
We left school at 9:35 am aboard the school bus. We reached Makini school at 10:15am and a hail-fellow-mate welcome from the host’s trainer Mr. Mbithi was a marvel to behold.
He walked us through the ground’s guidelines and emphasized the importance of collegial spirit and conviviality through and through.
THE FRIENDLY MATCHES:
The games commenced at 11am with both schools fielding boys and girls teams. Our host had a numerical advantage thus, the need to play more than two matches as a way of achieving fairness- numerically speaking.
Our team made us proud as each player pulled a fight-to-win spirit.
In singles category:
Charis won 3 out of the 5 matches he played.
Ryan lost the first match but staged a never-say-die spirit, bounced back, winning 2 matches on the spin.
Yazan won 2 out of the 5 played.
Ivan played 4 - thanks to the age bracket- won 3.
In doubles, our pair in Ivan and Charis, won by 2 sets to nil.
Our girls’ team, vivified, were very strong in loops and reflexes. This gave us a chance to note the areas of improvement moving forward
