Updated: 4 days ago

On Saturday, 9th November 2024, the Millennium Global International School Model United Nations (MUN) team proudly represented our school at the 24th Kenya Model United Nations (KMUN) 2nd Mock Debate held at Kenyatta University along Thika Highway.

Divided into various committees – Crisis Committee, ECOSOC, SOCHUM, WHO, UNEP, and UN Women – our high school delegation competed alongside other high school and university delegates, standing out with confidence and skill.

Our team achieved remarkable success, receiving several awards and being recognized as the Best High School Delegation at the mock debate. Despite many members being new to MUN, they tackled challenges with resilience, engaging actively and demonstrating knowledge and diplomacy.

The UN Women committee began with opening speeches, followed by a discussion on the impacts of climate change on women’s sexual health rights. Delegates highlighted how climate crises such as droughts and floods disproportionately affect women, leading to increased early marriages, gender-based violence, and inadequate access to healthcare and education. Another motion focused on the effects of sexual violence on reproductive health in low-security camps for displaced persons. Delegates were passionate about the topic, emphasizing the need for urgent action and resources to protect women’s rights.
