On 8th March 2025, 17 students from Millennium Global participated in the SAIMUN Mock Debate alongside delegates from over ten different schools. The debate focused on the motion: Should African governments prioritize funding to develop public healthcare systems over privatization, given disparities in access to care?
Our students demonstrated confidence and eloquence in defending their positions as delegates. They actively engaged in the debate by raising and seconding motions while also firing Points of Information (POIs) to challenge and counter arguments from other delegates. Their ability to think critically and articulate their perspectives showcased their growing expertise in Model United Nations (MUN) debates.
The event began with the routine training on the rules of procedure in the morning, followed by unmoderated caucuses and concluding with a moderated session. Throughout the debate, students had the opportunity to interact with peers from other schools, exchange ideas, and refine their intellectual, debating, and critical thinking skills. The experience reinforced their identity as global citizens.
The debate ended at 2 PM, leaving the students more motivated and prepared for future engagements. This was the second mock debate our students attended, and their enthusiasm and preparedness have significantly improved. With their experience and sharpened debating skills, they are now highly motivated and eager for the main SAIMUN debate scheduled for July. We look forward to seeing their continued growth and excellence in upcoming MUN conferences.
