Excitement filled the air as members of the Kenyan National Kabaddi Team visited our school to introduce students to the fast-paced and dynamic sport of kabaddi. The athletes not only shared their passion for the game but also motivated students by highlighting the discipline, teamwork, and resilience required to excel in the sport.
The session kicked off with an engaging discussion about kabaddi, its origins, and its growing popularity in Kenya and beyond. The team members spoke about their journey, the challenges they have faced, and the rewards of representing the nation on an international level. Their stories were truly inspiring, encouraging students to embrace sports as a way to build character and perseverance.
The real excitement began when the athletes took to the field for a live demonstration. They showcased key techniques such as raiding, tackling, and defensive formations, explaining the strategies behind each move. Students watched in awe as the professionals executed swift dodges, powerful lunges, and impressive escapes.
Following the demonstration, the students had the opportunity to try out basic kabaddi skills under the guidance of the national players. They practiced quick footwork, lunging techniques, and the all-important skill of holding their breath while raiding—one of kabaddi’s unique and thrilling aspects. The hands-on experience was met with great enthusiasm, with many students expressing newfound appreciation for the sport.
The visit from the Kenyan National Kabaddi Team was a fantastic opportunity for students to learn from top-tier athletes and gain insight into a sport that blends strength, agility, and strategy. Inspired by the team’s visit, many students are now eager to explore kabaddi further, and who knows—perhaps one of them will represent Kenya in the future! For this, we are tremendously grateful to them.
